Grass carp larvae discovered in Maumee River

TOLEDO – Grass carp could be expanding into Lake Erie’s watershed after researchers found the invasive species known for eating aquatic vegetation in larval form in the Maumee River.

The larvae was found during annual sampling by researchers last June and were located near the I-280 bridge in downtown Toledo, according to Eric Weimer, a supervisor with the Sandusky Fisheries Unit.
